An interview with Mr. Hiroshi Mizohata, the Commissioner of the Tourism Agency.

“I wanted to create a research institute to give information to runners. This project will certify roads that are excellent for people rather than for cars. By creating routes suited for walking, running or cycling with experts, we can interlink these with tourism resources. To do so, we intend to certify such specific courses with an expert committee comprising architects, town planners, well known runners whose names I won’t mention yet, and such people. The main thing thing is to consider roads from a pedestrian’s perspective. What we want to do is search out tourism resources from the novel point of view of people who walk and run instead of that of cars.
